Steve Boettcher is a five-time Emmy-winning filmmaker. He produced and directed the PBS documentaries The Gold Rush and The Oregon Trail in the 1990s.
In 2004, he created Pioneers of Primetime for PBS—the program was so successful, it led to the Pioneers of Television series, now in season 4. In crafting that series, Boettcher navigated Hollywood’s deal makers to set up in-depth interviews with more than 100 Hollywood celebrities, including Jerry Seinfeld, Betty White, Robin Williams, Bill Cosby, Tina Fey, Jay Leno, Tim Allen, Roseanne Barr, Mary Tyler Moore, Ray Romano, and many others.
Boettcher also produced Legend of Lambeau Field for the Green Bay Packers, which ranks among the top five sporting DVDs ever sold in the U.S. Currently, Boettcher has turned his attention to outdoors production, with the award winning Sanctuary of Flight, and Frozen Chosen, now on Netflix.
Mike Trinklein writes television programs, books, and articles—and served as a university professor for nearly 20 years. He’s written for the Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, and Time Magazine.
Trinklein’s work has led to interviews on NPR’s All Things Considered and Here and Now—and appearances on numerous television talk shows, including a full hour on C-SPAN. Trinklein wrote the PBS documentaries The Gold Rush and The Oregon Trail in the 1990s, which led to his role as the sole writer and co-producer of the top-rated PBS series Pioneers of Television, now in its fourth season.
A longtime resident of Idaho, Trinklein is well-versed in conservation issues in the Yellowstone ecosystem and beyond.
