Steve Boettcher is a five-time Emmy-winning filmmaker. He produced and directed the PBS documentaries The Gold Rush and The Oregon Trail in the 1990s.

In 2004, he created Pioneers of Primetime for PBS—the program was so successful, it led to the Pioneers of Television series, now in season 4. In crafting that series, Boettcher navigated Hollywood’s deal makers to set up in-depth interviews with more than 100 Hollywood celebrities, including Jerry Seinfeld, Betty White, Robin Williams, Bill Cosby, Tina Fey, Jay Leno, Tim Allen, Roseanne Barr, Mary Tyler Moore, Ray Romano, and many others.

Boettcher also produced Legend of Lambeau Field for the Green Bay Packers, which ranks among the top five sporting DVDs ever sold in the U.S. Currently, Boettcher has turned his attention to outdoors production, with the award winning Sanctuary of Flight, and Frozen Chosen, now on Netflix.

"The Frozen Chosen"  A Documentary Film by Steve Boettcher

2014 Emmy Winning Film -  Cultural Documentary

Each winter a monstrous beast lures men and women to the ice of Lake Winnebago. It is the only place on the planet where this occurs. "The Frozen Chosen" introduces you to the obsessed men and women who are willing to wait days, years, even decades to propel their spears and bring you face-to-face with the prize below.

It's "The Deadliest Catch" meets "Ice Road Truckers," says filmmaker Steve Boettcher, who spent two years on the ice capturing the dangers and ultimate thrills of sturgeon spearing on Lake Winnebago.
